Nassau (2)

Saturday, February 4, 2017

Friday morning, we saw Bill off.  After almost 4 weeks with us, he had to catch a plane back to the frozen north.
We'll Miss You Bill!
After a few final chores, we were pretty much all prepped to depart Nassau Saturday morning.  But we sat down and decided that we had spent all our time on boat tasks, and hadn't really done any relaxing.  So we decided to take one more day and play tourist in the make-believe downtown section that caters to the cruise ships.

There, we went through the huge straw market, had lunch at an outdoor plaza with steel drums playing, and even went through a pirate museum that had an almost Disney flair to it.

And no tourist trip is complete without the obligatory selfie!

Tomowwow, we'll cast off our docklines and head for Allen's Cay in the northern end of the Exumas. It's a relatively short run of 35 NM, but we will be crossing the Yellow Banks close to low tide, and coral heads have been reported there to depths of 4 1/2 feet at low tide!
